Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana delivered his most successful thriller drama Andhadhun in 2018. Sriram Raghavan’s directorial film Andhadhun has grossed Rs 303.36 Crore (USD 43.4 million) in China. It was produced by Sanjay Routray’s Matchbox Pictures, the film, featuring Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Anil Dhawan in key roles. The film is a crime-thriller at the center of which is a pianist who may or may not be blind. It was released in China on April 3 under the title The Piano Player and has become the third-highest Bollywood grosser thereafter Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Secret Superstar.

 “Andhadhun crosses 300 Crore in China. Making it the third highest-grossing Indian film in the Asian country. Total: $43.45 million (Rs 303.36 crore),” wrote Taran Adarsh on Twitter. He also shared a list of the top five highest-grossing Indian films in China. Dangal, Secret Superstar, Andhadhun, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Hindi Medium.”

Ajit Andhare, COO of Viacom18 Studios said “I was thrilled that unusual stories stands rewarded not only in India and the diaspora market but also in the new market and audience in China. An Indian film has exceeded Hollywood tent-poles like Shazam!. “This success also dispels the belief that Hindi films need to have a social issue to succeed in China box office. It’s a great moment for Indian cinema.

Andhadhun crosses 300 Crore

Ayushmann Khurrana said in a statement that “Andhadhun is making India proud and I was delighted to contribute in this huge cinematic moment for India. It feels great to be appreciated not just in India but also in China. They have showered a lot of appreciation for my craft and I just can’t thank them enough. I wish I get the chance to travel to China soon and meet as many people as possible and just say thank you.”

Black comedy crime-thriller Andhadhun also won big at the Critics’ Choice Film Awards announced here on Sunday. It won in the categories: Best Film: “Andhadhun”, Best Director: Sriram Raghavan, Best Editor: Pooja Ladha Surti, Best Writing – Arijit Biswas, Yogesh Chandekar, Hemanth M. Rao, Sriram Raghavan,  and Pooja Ladha Surti.
